Frequent Asked Questions - DL'aser Hair Removal

1. What is DL'aser Hair Removal?

Laser Hair Removal is a treatment that uses concentrated laser energy to target the pigment in the hair follicle.

The laser energy heats and damages the targeted follicle, helping to reduce future hair growth. With repeated sessions, hair may grow back slower, finer, lighter and less noticeable.

2. Is Laser Hair Removal suitable for all skin types?

Laser Hair Removal can be suitable for a wide range of skin tones when the appropriate settings are used.

However, results also depend on your hair colour, thickness and treatment area. Darker and coarser hair usually responds better because it contains more pigment for the laser to target.

Very light blonde, grey, white or red hair may respond less effectively.

Before treatment, our therapist will assess your skin and hair condition to determine suitable settings.

3. Is Laser Hair Removal painful?

Most customers describe the sensation as a mild warm or snapping feeling on the skin.

The level of discomfort can vary depending on the treatment area, hair thickness and individual sensitivity.

Cooling technology is used during treatment to help keep the session as comfortable as possible.

4. How many sessions do I need?

Most customers require approximately 6–8 sessions for noticeable and longer-lasting hair reduction.

However, the number of sessions may vary depending on:

  • Treatment area

  • Hair thickness and colour

  • Hair growth cycle

  • Hormonal factors

  • Individual response to treatment

Some customers may require additional or maintenance sessions.

5. How should I prepare before Laser Hair Removal?

For the best and safest treatment experience:

  • Shave the treatment area approximately 24 hours before your appointment.

  • Avoid waxing, plucking or threading the area for around 4 weeks before treatment.

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning before treatment.

  • Do not apply strong skincare products, deodorant, perfume or irritating products to the treatment area before your session.

  • Inform our therapist about any medications, skincare products or medical conditions before treatment.

Shaving is recommended because the hair follicle remains underneath the skin for the laser to target.

6. Can I do Laser Hair Removal during my period?

Yes. Having your period does not normally prevent you from having Laser Hair Removal on most areas of the body.

However, you may feel slightly more sensitive during this time.

For intimate-area treatments, Ummywax may recommend rescheduling depending on hygiene, comfort and treatment suitability.

7. Can I do Laser Hair Removal while pregnant or breastfeeding?

As a precaution, Ummywax does not recommend Laser Hair Removal during pregnancy.

If you are breastfeeding, please inform our therapist before treatment so we can assess your situation, treatment area and any medications or skincare products you are currently using.

When in doubt, we may recommend obtaining advice from your healthcare professional before continuing treatment.

8. Are the results permanent?

DL'aser Hair Removal is designed to provide long-term hair reduction.

After completing the recommended treatment course, many customers notice significantly reduced hair growth. Hair that grows back may also become finer, lighter and slower-growing.

Results vary from person to person depending on factors such as hormones, hair colour, hair thickness, treatment area and individual hair-growth cycles.

Occasional maintenance sessions may be needed to maintain the results.

9. Are there any side effects?

Temporary side effects may occur after DL'aser Hair Removal.

Common reactions include:

  • Mild redness

  • Slight swelling around the hair follicles

  • Warm or sensitive skin

  • Mild irritation

These effects are usually temporary.

Less commonly, temporary changes in skin pigmentation, blistering, crusting or burns may occur, especially if the skin has recently been exposed to strong sunlight or unsuitable treatment settings are used.

Our therapists will assess your skin condition and use appropriate treatment settings to reduce these risks.

10. Which body areas can be treated?

Laser Hair Removal can be performed on many areas of the body, including:

  • Underarms

  • Upper lip

  • Chin

  • Face

  • Arms

  • Legs

  • Stomach

  • Back

  • Bikini area

  • Brazilian area

  • Hands and feet

Laser treatment should not be performed directly around the eyelids or too close to the eyes.

Our therapist will advise whether a particular area is suitable for treatment.

11. How long does each treatment take?

Treatment time depends on the size of the area being treated.

Small areas such as the upper lip or underarms may take only a few minutes.

Larger areas such as the legs or back may take approximately 30–60 minutes or longer depending on the treatment area and individual condition.

12. How much does Laser Hair Removal cost?

The price depends on the treatment area and the number of sessions selected.

Ummywax offers both ala carte treatments and treatment packages.

You may contact our team or visit your nearest Ummywax branch for the latest pricing, available packages and current promotions.

13. Is Laser Hair Removal allowed in Islam?

Hair removal is generally permissible for many areas of the body, subject to Islamic guidelines regarding the type of hair being removed, aurat, privacy and necessity.

At Ummywax, treatments are provided by female therapists in private treatment rooms to prioritise the comfort and privacy of our female customers.

14. Are there any conditions I should tell my therapist about?

Yes. Please inform our therapist before treatment if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding

  • Are taking medication

  • Are using prescription or strong skincare products

  • Have recently experienced significant sun exposure or tanning

  • Have active skin irritation, wounds or infections

  • Have a history of unusual scarring or keloids

A consultation and assessment before treatment helps our therapist determine the most suitable treatment approach for you.
